This is such a refreshing article to read, especially now as I’m editing my story as I go. I felt like I was writing the “wrong” way but I feel more encouraged by your words. I naturally used to write like this until I adhered to the write first, edit later rule touted by much of the writing community and Nanowrimo. But I’ve realized it just doesn’t work for me. I feel I get a better sense of where the piece is going if I edit as I go, even if I do end up changing it later on. Thanks for this!
